Documentary - 3rd draft

This is my third draft, in this i have re-shot my interview scene to make it look more professional in a studio. I have also changed the actor as i found that my teacher suited my documentary the most as she was wearing more efficient clothes that matched the mise en scene. Also i have cut my documentary down a lot to make it look more snappy and tight as some scenes were to long and could become boring for the audience.  In this edit i have also cut down the shots that were shaky as this not look good from audiences point of view.

Improvements -

  • Add voiceover, over the narrative to add more meaning to the visuals on scene 
  • Add recording symbol over the scene with immy so it looks like she is recording a youtube video
  • Cut down background noise

Cinematography is an art director in a film, they control the charge of the camera, electric and grip departments. The camera department maintains the camera and has it ready for the shot while the grips and electrics handle the lighting. Electrics set the lights and run power to them and grips shape the light by using flags and diffusion. Grips also provides support to camera department when there is camera movement for the scene. Cinematography is very important as they are making the film look all put together and making it looking perfect.

How to film an interview?

In my documentary i have an interview with the victim in my first scene, in this  had to learn the 180 rule and how to film an interview to make it look professional. In my second i did an interview however this didn't look professional as i filmed it in a classroom which the mise en scene did not look professional. In my third draft i am hoping that i have sorted this out and that it looks more professional also with the use of different actors to i feel this changed the whole interview.

2nd Day Filming

In my second day filming, i had some problems with actors as one dropped out due to having work commitments, in these circumstances i had to use a family member to fill in this role. However i was very surprised of how well it turned out very well as the interview looked very professional. The filming went very well as i researched about how to film an interview and how to use the 180 rule.

Documentary - 2nd Draft

This is my second draft of ' Glamourising Abuse ' i am not happy with the finishing result of my interview i feel the mise en scene is not accurate and does not look like an interview it looks like a room. I feel i haven't used enough different angles to make it look professional. However what i am really happy about is my titles and the writing on the scene i feel this has given my documentary more purpose and makes it look more like a film not just something put together.


  • Cut it down from 10 mins to 5 mins
  •  Re- shoot interview 
  • Get a different interviewer 
  • Cut out shaky shot

3rd day filming

After realising my improvements from my second draft, i decided i wanted to change my interview as i felt the mise en scene was not good enough and lacked professional like what i wanted my interview to be. In my media class there is a radio station section and i felt this suited my video best and it made the mise en scene look much better than before.
